Traditional Punjabi tattoos and their meanings?

I have heard peacock tattoo used to be common on male thighs. Can someone tell me what is it's significance? Is moon tattoo also traditional? Are there any more such tattoos that are not religious symbols of any religion that have been a part of Punjabi culture? Are there any female tattoos?
