Bhitarkanika-home-of-worlds-largest-white-crocodile
As of 23rd January 2025, 33 white crocodiles have been spotted in Bhitarkanika, which is also an abode of three other white crocodiles and those are 49-yrs female albino - Gori , 21-yrs old albino Mali and 6-yrs old albino Sundari , living in captivity in the park's enclosure. Highlights of Bhitarkanika: # Bhitarkanika National Park is home to the only population of albino estuarine crocodiles in India. # The park's brackish water bodies are a favorable habitat for white crocodiles. # The white crocodiles in Bhitarkanika are locally called sankhua, which means "the color of a conch". # The albino crocodiles' whitish complexion is due to a genetic pigment malformation and mutant variation.
