Navi Mumbai’s NMMT to Launch Fully Green Fleet with Electric & CNG Buses, Smart Transport Upgrades, and Charging Hubs in ₹270 Crore Overhaul

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) is set to revolutionize public transit with a fully electric and CNG-powered fleet, replacing diesel buses to reduce pollution and enhance efficiency Backed by a ₹270 crore budget allocation, the initiative includes 100 new electric buses, upgraded transport infrastructure, and a modernized Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) for better route management and passenger convenience. To support this green transition, charging stations for electric vehicles and CNG refueling hubs will be installed at key depots and terminals under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model. NMMT also aims to earn carbon credits by cutting diesel usage, making Navi Mumbai’s transport network more sustainable and future-ready.
