• Why we all love Mumbai

Hey Mumbaikars. Lately, a lot of posts we have been reading on this duby are highlighting the negative aspects of Mumbai. Yes. Things are not as great as we would like them to be. And yet we all are still here. Right. There must be something good about this place that we are struggling to make it work and not give up. I am mentioning some things which I like about Mumbai and you folks can add to it. 1. I have never felt lonely ever in this city. I lived five months in my home alone but just keeping the door open gave me an assurance that there are people around me. 2. Mumbai feels different, especially, south Mumbai. It has a certain cultural vibe which all the great cities have. Like HK, NYC, Shanghai, etc. We have museams, places and institutions of national importance and historical significance, recreational facilities, entertainment avenues, sports amenities, places to hangout and what not. It has a cosmopolitan vibe which only a select few cities in the world have. 3. Most people are friendly and nice and willing to help you as per their available bandwidth. Yes. Every place has it. But how does it take away anything from Mumbai. 4. Public transportation in terms of connectivity is awesome. You can get from any corner to any other corner using various modes like train, bus, metro and rickshaw in the least possible fare. I doubt how many cities can boast both connectivity and affordability. Just think about it, till date no other city in India has been able to do it. So there must be something different about Mumbai. Right. Of course, we sacrifice comfort but like all trade-offs in life we can't get everything. 5. Basic amenities are available for everyone. All of us have access to water supply, electricity, cooking fuel, public transportation, education and healthcare. Probably the only area in the country where all these things are easily available and accessible to everyone. Literally everyone, even those living in slums. The slums we see around reflect the inherent historical inequality in our country but them coexisting in the middle of the city shows how EQUAL Mumbai is. 6. Monsoon, especially when you are working from home. It just feels romantic and fills your heart with bliss. 7. The months of November to February are so great for outing and exploring places. It is just perfect with little bit of chill in the air and sunny weather. As delicious as roasted peanuts. 8. We have places where you can literally feel the vibe of the highlight of that place. Nariman Point - Business and Power, Shivaji Park, Wankhede - Cricket, Lokhandwala, Bandra, Juhu - Bollywood. 9. Some of the best higher educational institutions in the country are located here and of course the job opportunities it provides for folks from all the strata of the society and folks with different skill sets and intellectual talents. If you are born here you don't have to move to any other city for a better life if you are willing to struggle a bit and make some sacrifices. I can go on and on but be generous and mention what you like about this place in comments.
