Maharashtra and Marathi

Usually I travel in sleeper coach bus from Nagpur to Solapur and vice versa.Since most bus travel agencies are Nagpur based ,the announcement in buses such as "Bus will stop for 20 minutes for Dinner or next stop is this" are made in Hindi and very rarely in Marathi.I have travelled with almost every sleeper travels company. Recently I planned to travel to Bengaluru.I didn't get ticket from Solapur so I booked it from Bijapur which is just 100 km from Solapur on Maharashtra-Karantaka border. Here,The real problem begins,as it was intra state city bus all the announcements were made in Kannada.I can understand basic kannada and can speak basic kannada but driver was from Bengaluru and his accent was different from North Karnataka accent(Compare it with Nagpuri marathi and Kolhapuri Marathi) and I can't understand. So I asked my co passenger why all the announcements are in kannada and not in hindi so he told me it's intra state bus.So I told him in Maharashtra we have intra state bus but all the announcements are made in Hindi.But he said that's not the case in Karnataka.But passengers,driver and conductors were super friendly,they translated in hindi for me when I asked them to do so. I don't know if they were correct or we are wrong. I think it's okay to use in hindi as 2nd language. What's your view on this
