The 2,500 years old architectural marvel, Meenakshi Amman temple is located in the heart of historic city Madurai which is spread over about 14 acres. This temple has historic roots dating back to 2000 B.C. and it has been in use for almost all of its history except for about 60 years when it was closed and in ruins after it's destruction in the 14th century.
