TextEdit File Recovery

Does anyone know if we can recover a TextEdit file that suddenly disappeared? 3 of my files suddenly disappeared. I have saved them many times upon editing and still they are nowhere to be found in my computer files nor my icloud files. They would not appear in the OPEN RECENT tab on TextEdit, however they would appear when I would right click on the app logo from the dock. Nothing would happen when I'd click on these tho. I harldy understand how they could be deleted when they were previously saved, on many occasions...is there a hidden file in which I could retrieve them? Or a software that would allow me to do so? I do not use time machine. Thank you!
