Mouse on macbook no longer moving to ipad after latest IOS update for both devices

Not sure if the latest IOS update even has anything to do with this issue, but I noticed this issue shortly after the update. Even with universal control showing that I turned on the option to allow my macbook mouse to connect to my ipad. The mouse no longer glides over my ipad when I try to move it there. Already tried restarting both devices. Any ideas of what the issue could be?
