Is Picture-in-Picture with transparency possible?

I'm looking for a way to make Safari's Picture-in-Picture (PiP) transparent when watching YouTube videos. I'd like to partially see the content of applications running behind the PiP window. * Are there any extensions that enable PiP transparency? * Do alternative browsers offer this functionality? * If this isn't technically possible, what are the limitations preventing it?
