External monitor not working!!!

I have a MacBookPro M2 and when i connect it with my samsung monitor with a HDMI cable and a connector to plug in the cable to my mac it just doesn’t work. The monitor recognizes the HDMI but boom black screen then again it searches and finds HDMI and the process repeats infinitely. The cable is working fine because I use the same cable to hook it into my desktop pc. Is it the connector or monitor itself because when I plugged in my mac in my friends monitor with the same connector it worked. Should I buy a new monitor? I am so confused please help!
