Corrupted/missing files after software update

Hello people, I came to ask if it would be in any way possible for me to retrieve files that went missing after i upgraded from mojave to catalina. The files in question are .flp aka FL studio project files if that tells anyone anything. Lastly I’d like to tell you im on a 2012 macbook pro. Thanks in advance!
