How can I remap additional mouse buttons that are detected as a keyboard.

So I just got a mouse, I really like it but the mac detects the mouse buttons (additional ones) as a keyboard which makes softwares like SteerMouse, Mac Mouse Fix and LinearMouse useless because they don't detect the button clicks. Is there any way to change this?
