My MacBook wallpaper changes every time I plug it into a display. How can I stop this once and for all?

A super annoying problem I've been having lately is that no matter what I do, when I plug my MacBook into my monitor, the wallpaper always changes without fail. The photo is downloaded to the computer and in a folder where it's never uploaded anywhere. Is this a bug or can I stop it somehow?
