Please help, M1 2020 Macbook Air boots only to black screen with cursor, THATS IT!!!

So, I got this computer cheap as the display was physically broken. I only wanted to use it with a monitor so it was perfect for me. I wiped it, reinstalled the latest OS I could at the time (3 weeks ago). l started to use the machine and it was working great on my ONN 24 inch monitor hooked up via HDMI through a simple dongle. Note, the display has been removed. 2 days ago i locate a potential new display. I get it, and sure enough it does work, so I take it off, and I put it on mine from above. Nothing, does not work. Computer boots, but no display. So I remove it check connections, etc try all the basic TS tactics to no avail. So I decide to just leave it the way it was. NOW, the M1 only Boots to a black screen, with the cursor, thats it!! Nothing I try to do is working, nothing. I try cmd R, option cmd R, D, Shift, option only, and a few others, it just refuses to boot to anything but the black screen and cursor. Yes, I have tried new HDMI, dongle, monitor, cables, chargers, and wall outlets. I cannot figure out why this is doing this. Never in my 25 years of IT have I come across something like this. So if you have any ideas or possible fixes, please let me know. I really need this computer to work. It was working just fine before this. Thank you all for your time. l Mike
