Only loads audio in Apple Music-- won't open otherwise.

Hi all! Recently made the switch from Windows to Mac for video editing and I am absolutely loving it! However... any time I play an .mp3 file it will automatically boot it up in Apple Music and even though I've selected for it to "always open with" Quicktime Player, it will either continue to load it in Apple Music or say it cannot be tested for malware and won't allow me to open it. How can I change my default audio player to Quicktime (or another one if someone has any good recs!) and have it open?
