Monitor via Airplay latency

I want to use my MacBook with with an external monitor, but because I also want to be able to move it while using it I am against using a cable. Right now I am considering two different setups. The first one uses a fireTv Stick 4k with an app that allows me to use AirPlay for that monitor. The second setup would just be a smart monitor with AirPlay integrated which is more expensive but also probably more reliable. Do you think there would be a noticable latency and quality difference between these two? One thing that might become a problem is that my router is pretty far away and I extend the signal with a repeater but my connection is very stable.
