Looking for opinions on my next computer purchase
I am looking to upgrade from my 2019 MBP 16in with the Intel core i9 to either of the following The PC build: CPU: Intel Core i9-12900KF 3.2 GHz 16-Core Processor ($269.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 56.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($90.08 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790M AORUS ELITE AX ICE Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($207.99 @ Newegg) Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL38 Memory ($77.49 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 990 EVO 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X2 NVME Solid State Drive ($74.98 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 990 EVO 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X2 NVME Solid State Drive ($129.99 @ Abt) Video Card: MSI VENTUS 2X BLACK OC GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB Video Card ($299.00 @ Amazon) Case: Lian Li A3-mATX MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($69.98 @ Amazon) Power Supply: SeaSonic PRIME 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($159.99 @ Newegg) Total: $1379.49 The Mac option: Mac Studio w/ M2 Max 32GB ram 512GB SSD 12c/30c CPU/GPU for $1399 I know the obvious answer would be the PC build without contest in most cases, however I do not game very often at all and if I want to I can snag a PS5 from the pawnshop my wife works at with a 20% discount, so roughly $300. My main use is video editing and content creating with premier pro, though im debating on moving to Final Cut if I snag the Mac. I also have an entire household with the apple ecosystem ranging from Apple TV , iPads, iPhones, MBair, so communications and accessibility have been major conveniences. Being a PC builder a majority of my life a part of me knows this is a good option since I can expand on it for awhile and get a lot of use on it, on the Mac side I know it'll fit into my current environment easily and I would not have to do any conversion of files since I have iCloud syncing everything. If I need to, and I will need to, I can snag a 4TB external SSD and connect it via USB-C and call it good. Space is also a consideration. Though the Lian-li case is small the Mac Studio has a smaller footprint and is quieter, and since this setup is in my room, its easier to edit on a device that is quieter as my wife sleeps. Either way I will be happy with either choice, im just torn. What do you all think?5
