Have Mac Pro 2012 and 4 x 4TB drives. Want to make a local network file server.
Idea: Want a place to put movies, TV series, audiobooks, photos, downloaded files. We have a generally slow internet link, in theory 100 Mb/sec, in practice about 40 Mb/sec down and 3 Mb/sec up. Those are bits, not Bytes. (We pay about $60/month for this. We live in the sticks.) Ideally I want a system where I can: \* Keep my itunes libraries on the server, and sync them when I am home. OR use a different Music system. \* Play media from the server to our AppleTV \* Easily move files from the assortment of macs and macbooks. \* Specify folders on individual macs that are to be synced to this server. \* Specify folders on this server that are to be synced to a cloud service. E.g. My photo library (NOT Photos) is on the server. I run a script on the server that keeps a folder called "Good Pix" This is a selection of the library that is all my 4\* and up pictures. Another folder is "Recent pix" With is the last X number of pix that have 2 star or better. These are reduced resolution pix sized to match an iPad. I would like to stream to my AppleTV, but do NOT want to keep everything in Itunes/Music3
