External SSD almost always corrupted after disconnecting without ejecting
Hi all, I know external drives should be properly ejected before disconnecting them. However, there's always this situation where I'm in a hurry and just disconnect my MBP from my Dock. My Setup is this: MBP M2 Max -> Thunderbolt Dock -> Crucial X10 Pro 4TB Drive I formatted the Drive to include two APFS partitions. One partition for Carbon Copy Cloner and another partition for big Files I don't want on my primary drive. However, almost every time I disconnect the drive without ejecting first, at least one, often both partitions get corrupted to the point where they're unrecoverable via DiskUtil repair. So all files and CCC backups lost. Should I use exFAT instead? APFS seems to be really unstable when used with external drives that sometimes do get disconnected without ejecting first. Never had this problem while the drive was formatted as exFAT. Any other recommendations? I have to assume that this situation will happen again. I sometimes just forget to eject, especially because it's all connected to my Dock and not directly to my MBP... Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!
