broken macbook screen, can connect with extern monitor but external keyboard/mouse doesn't work (usb). help!

so i accidentally broke my macbook screen (and the keyboard isn't working either) and i'm desperately trying to log in to my computer. i don't know what to do. i just bought a new external monitor so i would be able to log in to my computer, i can see the screen on the external monitor but i can't type anything in. how should i solve this if i can't make the keyboard nor the mouse connect with my computer? i'm so annoyed i feel like nothing is working 😭
