  • NYE @ Sheraton Experience

So I'd splurged on the Sheraton New years eve party. Cost me 4.5k on Swiggy. I wanted to experiment going to a party alone in Kochi. Here's what happened: It said party starts at 6 and I reached at 8 - venue of party was almost desserted. The Sheraton entrance had a crowd and there were takers for their dinner too. Hopeless check in process - just some bunch of bouncers. The venue was a small to medium sized room with nice disco setup and open bar. Bar had decent collection of drinks from Beer and wines to Whiskey, Rums, Brandy and Gin. Mixers were soda, water and real juices. No cocktails. Food served outside. There was a DJ in the room, but seemed things would start up only by 9. Here are the real bummers: 1. Very limited crowd. I thought being near infopark, this place would draw a crowd. But there were a total of about 100 folks. 2. Dead party for Single males. Most of the crowd were couples and some even bought family as in their kids. There were a total of 4 single ladies I spotted of which 2 seemed to enjoy the party and the other 2 looked like their plus ones. One of these got taken (she was tall like 5 9", well built, in a nice dress) immediately. There was also a crowd that looked pretty gay. And then some 15 odd single males. Btw some 10-15 of the ladies who came as couple entries were 🔥 and some were dressed in nice party wear 3. The DJ set was just good songs. No announcements, no ice breakers. No one even bothered to make the crowd mingle. Small party games would've worked wonders. 4. Food was pretty average. The typical Indian buffet and a live barbeque counter. They could've atleast had more starters and bought them to the party room. Desserts were good though. 5. They closed up the alcohol at like 11:15 pm. Just right up closed it. The only bright side was the spirits and music created a nice atmosphere. Music was loud and the beats were felt well. So there was a proper party atmosphere with some dancing. Again, this dancing is nothing compared to what I've seen in Bangalore or Delhi clubs on normal fridays. Moral of the story: if you have friends, gang out with them. If you are alone, simple Netflix and chill at home.
