Litter Box Advice needed for new cat parent! Please help

Hi, im a new cat parent who has just transitioned my outdoor kittens to an indoor apartment where i live; could any of the fellow pet parents kindly advise on how you'd dispose of cat litter while living in an apartment; I'm not particularly fond of clay litter, was keen on using pinewood litter as an alternative, which is ideally supposed to be more natural and chemical free. Any advice with regards to cat litter and it's subsequent disposal would help heaps. Please share what you've used and what has worked out for your cats.
