Let's come out of our La-La Land
So this may seem like a non-cricket-related post, but trust me it is. In 2016, I read a post somewhere by adidas titled "sports need a space to exist". Now with average temperatures, humidity levels rising and Air quality deteorating, its become difficult to live. In these conditions, cricket itself or Outdoor sports in General will become difficult to be played. I have a cricket academy nearby and was speaking to the coach. He told me that summers have become a difficult time to practise and compared to maybe 5 years earlier, the practise sessions have become shorter due to intense weather. We as cricket fans (incl me) get agitated so easily when we see our favorite team/players perform badly , but we're easily forgetting the bigger picture and doing nothing about it. In the next 5 years, what will be the state of living in India and how will cricket get impacted. No wonder Kohli chose to live in Uk instead of India. \- Our cities are becoming heat islands and yet both public and private urbanisation is insaley stupid and focussed more on aesthetics than functionality \- Our news channel get most screen time to shouting matches and not actual news on how bad things are changing \- we as citizens have stopped questioning the institutions. we are more and more hooked on dopamine surges thanks to the endless content binge , aided by simulating environment everywhere. As a example personal development doesn't happen unless someone is willing to do it and it only happens in incremental steps. Same way our problems are so big and will only solve slowly over time, but the trigger that's needed is the realisation that we are in deep shit. Unfortunately people are blind to see that and only wake up temporarily. Sorry for my typos and long rant. The question is what can we do to change it.4
