    Wanting to know more

I recently heard of some very interesting and very thought provoking conversations online surrounding Hinduism and self growth. Feeling compelled, I want to know more about this belief and perhaps even apply it to myself. I have done some research and I’m very interested and inspired by what I have learned so far. I would like to know where to start, some basic knowledge and concepts, and what should I do to practice and apply these beliefs in my everyday life?

Need details about Shri Radha symbol

https://preview.redd.it/gg8yok9o2uke1.png?width=633&format=png&auto=webp&s=fae9e6a942a7c16fee65ee9fcfa1e9d6f0332645 I've seen this symbol in a lot of places. I've seen it on trees too. What is the significance of this symbol? What does it denote? Is it necessary to display this symbol exactly like this or can we modify it artistically, like the dots and flowers? And can I put this in my room?

Knowledge & Devotion Must Unite—Are We Forgetting the Ultimate Truth?

**Let’s start with the fundamental question:** Are deities like Bhairav real, or are they just projections of the human mind? If we look for scientific evidence, there’s none. We don’t see gods physically consuming offerings or intervening in the world in a measurable way. But if we look at psychological and cultural evidence, billions of people across history have experienced something they interpret as divine. So, are gods external forces, or is belief itself creating these experiences? **The Issue of Extinct Gods** If gods were truly immortal, independent forces,...

Unsure of what to believe in

For a long time I’ve felt a close connection to Jesus but I’ve been a Hindu all my life. I consider Shiva and Krishna to be the closest to me, and I love them deeply but I also want to be with Jesus. He brings me comfort when I’m in pain. I love listening to Bible verses but I also love Bhagavad Gita and our scriptures.

What is the difference between Mala Jaap and Naam Jaap?

[I have come across these beautiful features to do Jaap on HinduHub app and they feels like meditating, I am wondering what people usually do Naam jaap or mala jaap? Personally, I am more drawn to naam jaap because the feeling of seeing God's name written again and again gives me good focus](https://preview.redd.it/shw6o5j4vtke1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47a423b9efc60a19ba38ec9a60743093998bc3bd) https://preview.redd.it/nyfzv73bvtke1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d42fb96be51c9b3f8b48c22dede6f3dada0fc0b5

Museum display told me hindus worship Shiva's "manhood". Is that true?

Christian here. I was at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science today, they have a special exhibit currently titled "Anghor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia" which has a lot of hindu and bhuddist statues and artifacts. In one display they had a linga, and the description said it was a representation of Shiva's penis and that hindus make offerings too it. I've never heard this before so I asked my wife who is a hindu and she said she had never heard that either, and then she told...

At what point does a soul go so low that God must take form to personally end them?

i’ve been thinking a lot about the evils and goods in this world. Though i know those who do evil never truly find inner peace if they never change their ways, and that their actions will always have consequences in Karma, i still think about Times were these evils could no longer be allowed to stay and have to be personally taken out by God. For example, When Durga fought Raktabija and entered a Rage and become our mother, Maa Kali, or Vishnu when he took form as Narishma,...

any good search tool or way to find a verse in shastra on a sertain topic?

imo it would be incredibly helpful to so so many youngsters like me who live a normal western life and sometimes need some words from the scriptures not just "do what you think is right" or "yeah just think god is with you". that's good but reading from what actually happened or was said by Bhagwan hits different. besides Geeta which is quite deep, theres so much wisdom and so many verses in Ramayana and MBT that would be useful, but its not like the bible and quran where...

Should I fast on this Mahashivratri?

Please give me honest and factual answers. Been a Lord Shiva bhakt since a kid, just like my father. Mahashivratri is the only festival i celebrated from the bottom of my heart and fasted each year happily. But I lost my father at a young age at the most unexpected way. I left everything related to the religion. This Mahashivratri will be the first without him physically. Honestly don't feel like fasting so because I don't care anymore but I had a thought how my behaviour affects my dear...

    Help with prayers

Recently I had an exam and was waiting on the results and started to chant the bajraang baan 3 times a day until the results day. Come results day, I get a very poor result and disappoint my whole family. I am not angry nor disappointed at Hanuman ji and fully surrender to his bhakthi. But recently I have another exam in a week and continuing the baan is just bringing me negative thoughts, making me feel less calm and makes me anxious - is this Hanuman's ji way...

Rajarshi Nandy ji's perspective on Ranveer Allahbadia controvery

Namaste friends. Rajarshi Nandy is someone I respect and think is quite wise. And this is is his perspective on the crude and disappointing behavior of Ranveer. In the first chapter of Yoga Vashistha, one of reasons Lord Ram expresses: "There is no worse danger than egoism......Doing anything with egoism is unreal." Thus, in light of Ranveer showing his "shadow" through his actions, I wonder if, in Ranveer's egoism, he thought he could make such comments without any negative effects on his reputation. Please let me know your thoughts....

As a Hindu, how do you decide what's superstition and what's dharma?

For Muslims and Christians, anything that's not a part of their scriptures, could be dismissed as superstition. But for Hindus with numerous sects and traditions, how does one decide what's part of dharma and what is superstition?

Journey of leaving dharma and finding it again

I grew up not understanding anything about being Hindu. I used to go to temple and hated being there. I was staunchly atheist and had no real guiding principles of life other than loving science. I would learn about world religions in undergrad and a lot of them just never resonated with me. The abrahamic religions seemed to have a God who was a metaphorical kid with a magnifying glass on an anthill. It was also very exclusionary and how could you say to a ton of people, they...
