However, I'm having trouble understanding this sloka. According to science, the development of male and female characteristics is determined by the XY chromosomes of male . I'm wondering if I've misunderstood the sloka, as it appears to suggest that the both male and female body plays a role in determining the sex of a child. Could someone please help clarify this for me?
