Retiring in goa

Hello everyone, I am an OCI/indo Canadian l and my husband is white (Canadian), we want to retire in Goa in the next few years. We are planning on buying a home and raising children in southern Goa. Is it safe to do so? Are there things we should watch out for? I have been to India lots of times and will be going to Goa to check it out for a while. We intent to respect the culture of Goa and just live a peaceful life, that’s all we want. Canada is a shithole and I’ve hated it for 25 years that I’ve been here.
