Child lock in the rear seat of the car
Hello peeps, wanted to share a creepy encounter that turned wholesome. Wife needed to travel around 6am for about 35kms distance. She couldn't take our car because she will carpool from that location to her further appointments. I offered to drop her but she declined cuzz of my night shift yesterday and decided to hail a cab. I was sleeping when she left and came to know about this only after I woke up. The drop location was not very crowded at the time. An uber picked her up and reached the destination. She paid through upi to the driver and opened the door to get down and the door wouldn't open. A slight panic set in her mind, feeling trapped. The driver got down and opened the car from outside. Apparently he advises his passengers with children to use the child lock feature (it prevents opening from inside, kudos to him for advising safety) and his last pickup had a family with a child. He just forgot to disengage it. He apologised and went on about his way. This situation made me want to write this post, so that everyone can be aware. This feature could easily be used by anti social elements during nights. Check the child lock latch on the door while getting into the cab (google for better understanding) or better yet immediately open the door from inside once you sat to make sure the door can be opened from inside. Edit - as u/dhakkarnia said - pretend you didn't closed the door properly and reopen to make sure it is openable.1
