The Night I Was Almost a Celebrity Robber

Last night, after the gym, I was walking home when my dad called and asked where I was. I said I was walking home, he then asked me to wait where I was because he was with his friends and would pick me up in five minutes. So, I was waiting near the light pole when an aunty in a nighty came with her husband and started questioning me about why I was standing there. I said I was waiting for my dad, but they said I shouldn't wait there since families live nearby and it's not good for them. I tried to be funny, "Aunty, I'm no Hrithik Roshan, people won't doubt you because of me." But her husband warned, "There have been robberies, and people have seen someone who looks like you. It's better if you move. " It's a busy road near Brahmin Tiffins, so I thought at this hour it shouldn't be a problem. Thinking arguing with them was pointless, I moved a few meters away from the light pole, near a construction site. They stayed near the pole, making calls, and soon a group of people came, trying to beat me up, saying I had teased their daughters and wife. As I have argued, my dad showed up with my father-in-law, who is a policeman, and they said we were all part of some robbery gang like Dandupalya. The nighty aunty suggested calling the police to have us arrested. They called someone, and my father-in-law called the same guy, explaining the situation. He told us to leave. Today morning, the police along with my father in law came by scolded the nighty aunty and her crew for misbehaving, checked for any robberies or eve-teasing (there were none), and warned them about jail next time. They were visibly scared. For the first time, I felt it was good to be in a nice circle and have some privileges otherwise, who knows what my situation would have been.
