Is not having a girlfriend not normal ?

I came home during my semester break this winter and was surprised as to how many people were asking me that if I had a girlfriend. I am 21 and when I first got to meet my home town friends after a long time, they asked me I had a girlfriend or not, to which I replied I didn't and they acted so surprised. Even my mother started asking I had made a girlfriend or not and even when visiting my relatives, even my aunt who like once came up to me saying she had something very important to ask, asked the same thing to which I was actually suprised as I didn't expect to get asked such questions...All of these recent things have made me wonder that is something wrong with me..I have never been in a relationship, but seeing all of my friends beings getting into one, makes me question that am I missing out on something ?
