Why don’t people understand that domestic abuse deeply impacts an individual’s mental peace? Does anyone truly grasp the toll this takes on my mental health?

The police often demand proof of physical violence, like slap marks or signs of choking—as if the absence of such evidence means the abuse didn’t happen. Just because my abuser didn’t leave visible marks doesn’t mean the damage isn’t real.
