What is India doing to gain respect in sports at the international level?

Just yesterday, I watched India’s first UFC (ultimate fighting championship) fighter, Anshil Jubli, get knocked down in 19 seconds. And less than a year ago, India failed to gain a single olympic gold medal. I know India doesn’t prioritize sports other than cricket really, and that children are pushed to pursue higher education, but for over 1 billion people and virtually no results, it seems a bit embarrassing no? Essentially i’m just wondering if government or individuals with influence/wealth are frustrated with this, and are now taking proactive measures to invest in the lacking sports sector. Thanks!
