What do you look forward to?
Hi Everyone, Hope you all are doing well! This question is just to understand perspectives from my fellow redditors around what keeps you happy/satisfied in life. To provide little more context, I'm a 30 year old guy from Ahmedabad. Currently working in an analytics consulting firm with 7+ years of Work-ex post MBA. If I reflect on how my 20s went, I couldn't be more grateful to God for all the blessings he showered on me. 20s was a roller coaster of so many firsts like: 1. First time stepped outside Ahmedabad for my MBA. 2. First time tried alcohol 3. First Job with the best mentor I could've asked for. 4. First solo trip india 5. First international solo trip 6. First time exploring delicacies in different cities being a foodie. Lived independently. 7. First workation in Manali/Goa 8. First promotion 9. First Job switch with a good hike. 10. First time taking parents on a vacation. 11.First time expanded friend/social circle being an introvert. Etc. Only firsts that I don't have are: 1. Never dated. No first date/first kiss/first sex/first relationship etc. (Cons outweighed the pros for me) 2. Don't plan to marry. Overall, I literally had a blast. Don't know how this decade of blissful ignorance flew by. I did follow the social script of 20s to a certain degree and also did self exploration while tasting freedom. But now the point is where the social script of 30s (marriage, kids, family, kids education, responsibilities etc.) doesn't align with who I am. And all the firsts that brought unmatched happiness/satisfaction in 20s don't bring the same joy anymore. Also, for most of the experiences, even the wait/anticipation of that phase used to be a reason of pure bliss. But now given I have already experienced most of those before, the anticipation phase currently pales in comparison to the earlier times. So finally coming to my question, what is it the folks in 30s and older look forward to in life? I'm just thinking about it myself as I sense a need of a strong and deeper purpose that makes facing the monotony and challenges of life worth it. Happy to hear perspectives!!3
