Should you refuse to install office apps like Teams, Outlook mail on your smartphone?

My company does not provide me a smartphone but expects me to install Teams and Mail apps on my phone so that I can respond to messages and mail even without laptop. I told my team lead the same thing but he is pushing me to install them and he always available to quickly reply to messages. I usually don’t mind having these apps on my phone and be able to reply to IMs but lately, my company migrated to GWS and the Google device policy app on iPhone is pretty restrictive and it is blocking me from downloading PDF files from browser. This is really frustrating, so I immediately uninstalled all work apps. If the company really wants me use work apps on phone, then why not provide a work phone just just work laptop?
