How’s your relationship with your dad ?

My dad was an alcoholic, but deep down, he was a good man. For a long time, I was angry with him and kept my distance because he was not very attentive to us as kids. Despite his flaws, he made sure to send me to Europe for further education, which shaped my life. Today, I am doing well professionally and living and working abroad. Sadly, he passed away last year, but we had made peace in the last few years. Just a day before he passed, he called me and asked if I could visit him because he did not have much time left. I flew back home immediately, and he passed away within 24 hours of me arriving. I feel an immense loss after losing him, but I am grateful I could be there in his final moments. I was able to share a few last words with him, and knowing I was by his side when he left gives me some comfort.
