Is it worth sacrificing my career over love?

25F, I have a flourishing career as a software developer working in Bangalore for some really good prestigous companies. My boyfriend just got a govt job but it transfers all over India every couple of years. Earlier during the pandemic, I thought I will get a remote job and we can make it work, but with the remote job culture dying, is it worth it to make the sacrifice of letting my career go - or take up any remote job. Or is breakup the right way to go....

Did Christian Missionaries Really Bring Education to All in India? The Truth About Gurukulas and Caste.

In a recent lecture, my Modern Indian Literature professor claimed that only Christian missionaries brought education to all in India, while traditional Gurukulas were exclusively for Brahmins. This got me thinking how accurate is this claim? It’s true that Christian missionaries played a role in making education more accessible, especially for Dalits and marginalized groups, but were they the only ones responsible for mass education? What about reformers like Jyotirao Phule and B.R. Ambedkar, or even colonial-era changes that led to more inclusive schooling? I’d love to hear perspectives...

How do y'all think we can actually improve the cleanliness and hygiene of street food in our country?

How do y'all think we can actually improve the cleanliness and hygiene of street food in our country? A lot of street vendors just aren’t financially stable enough to prioritize hygiene. Handing them gloves won’t help—they’ll probably just discard them and go back to the same practices. Canceling their licenses isn’t an option because, well, most don’t even have one. And shutting them down by force? That just makes them play the victim card and turn public sentiment against the government—something politicians definitely want to avoid. So, is there...

Do water softeners work for practical day to day usage?

Hair fall is the worst disadvantage of water in many cities. I came across some water softener products which can be plughed in water taps, showers and used directly. But do these products really work? Worth buying? If not, what are the other options? Please come with your opinions.

    How I experienced divinity

Hi All, hope you all are doing well. This is something that happened with me 2 years back that I'd like to share here since I think this is the appropriate sub where I won't get debuffed. My parents have brought me up to be a rational and practical child. I've always questioned religion and religious practices, not to debunk it, but to understand the 'Why' behind it. I've also had a brief stint as an atheist sometime in college. (Blame the raging hormones) I got to experience Hinduism...

Why is tipping becoming so aggressive at restaurants lately?

So, a couple of days ago, I went to a restaurant in Andheri with my girl. It wasn't a fancy place, just an average restaurant. The food was good, but the service was nothing special—I had to call the waiter 3-4 times to get his attention. When the bill arrived, it was around ₹1450, which already included ₹200-250 in service charges. My girl was paying online, and when the waiter came with the scanner, he straight-up asked, *"*Chalo apko jitna tip dena hai de do, 100-150 jo marzi*"*. He...
