I still have a naive dream I'm (29M) NEET for one and a half years. I used to work in the corporate sphere until my psychosis or most likely schizophrenia took the best of me. Being NEET has it's pro's and cons, it's nice that you don't have the hectic life but it's existence is pretty bleak to me. All in all, I have the naive dream to go back to working fulltime, meet a gf (I'm not ugly or social incompetent) and thinking about having a kid. Unfortunately I have illnesses and would not... 1 3 replies

Should I do a tax harvesting before year end? basically this year I've been experimenting and trading stocks. I've made more profits than I took losses. Since it is end of year I am expecting a tax form 1099 from my brokerage. I am stil holding some stocks that are massive losses. Next year It could go up, but I was thinking wouldn't it be wiser to just sell off these stocks tomorrow and then rebuy them at a lower price next year, for tax purposes? Like taking more losses right now will give me some funds but... 5 2 replies

Come up with an idea or copy an existing one I want to program my own SaaS/app. I have sufficient knowledge to make it myself. Should i put energy into finding a new idea by brainstorming or should I copy an existing idea and make it cheaper/better? How can I brainstorm effectively to find the right idea for what i could make. Any advice is welcome. 4 1 replies
Has anybody watched the 'Born Rich' documentary? There is this documentary called 'Born Rich' which is about these rich kids who don't have to work a day in their lives since they will inherit a lot of money. The only problem they have is that they get bored sometimes. It would be awesome not to have to work a day in your life. I wouldn't mind the occasional boredom. The documentary is on YouTube if you want to watch it. 3 3 replies

Mentally burnt out My startup is not working and this is the year I probably need to shut down. I have struggled and tried to make this work for 5 years now but I am down to one person and hired consultants. I have a feeling of utter failure and no significant achievements. The minor alerts I have put out to potential future job prospects look bleak too. I am seen as too broad having been a Founder and not deep. I have an Engineering background but played the Go to Market/CEO... 2 7 replies
Multi-user homebrew setup using additional homebrew user I have two users that I switch between, and I want to use `brew` on both of them. So I created a new user called `homebrew`, and then added these lines to my `~/.zshrc` files on both users: ``` unalias brew 2>/dev/null alias brew='sudo -Hu homebrew brew' eval "$(/opt/homebrew/bin/brew shellenv)" fpath+=("/opt/homebrew/share/zsh/site-functions") ``` This works quite well, except that it only allows me to run `brew` from `~`. If I try and run it from say `~/Documents` then I get this error: ``` shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot... 2 2 replies
