Intercaste Marriage Dilemma: Is Gold Jewellery Not a Tradition in Odia Weddings Hi everyone, I’m an Assamese girl (29F) engaged to an Odia guy(29M), and we’re planning to get married next year. While our relationship initially faced resistance from his parents, they eventually agreed—at least that’s what I believed when we got engaged. However, things haven’t been smooth. His parents have been speaking ill of me and have even misbehaved with my parents. During a recent discussion between our families about the wedding, my fiancé’s father mentioned that giving gold ornaments to the bride is not a ritual in Odia marriages.... 5 19 replies

Am I a NEET? Beyond the literal definition of the acronym, I like to think that NEETdom is a spectrum. We're not all awkward, or shut ins, right? I've been out of employment, education and training for around 2 years now, so I technically fit the definition, though I wouldn't categorize myself by the stereotype. I take care of myself and enjoy days out, have hobbies, and though I definitely suffer from my own fair share of mental stressors, I wouldn't say I'm a doomer. I was just wondering if others here fall... 4 3 replies

Does anyone else keep getting random ideas of simple apps they want in their lives but have no time to execute them? (I will not promote) If I recall correctly there used to be a site with “ideas” that people liked but didn’t have time to work on. Has anyone here actually had someone pickup one of their ideas and run with it? As a side project or hobby, would any developers like to have a list of freely available ideas to work on? 3 0 replies

Convert CUSAT'S school of engineering (SOE) (and other STEM depts) to an IIT like IT-BHU was made into an IIT. 1) We are not industrialized and can't produce at scale like TN or MH. Hence completely skip that step in our economic transformation and jump to service/technology/knowledge economy. This seems like the establishment's idea 2) Infrastructure push is all good and important. But we wont be a knowledge economy unless we pivot towards research and development in STEM fields. 3) our universities are pretty bad when it comes to research in STEM. Bringing in private unis won't increase research output. It will, in the best case become VIT or... 2 6 replies
How quickly after customer 1 did you get customer 2? - I will not promote Zero to one is super hard, but it seems like number 2 is WAAAAAYYY easier. Is this your experience? Did you post their logo on your website? It seems like a psychological thing for other prospective customers to not be the first domino to fall and it gives you so much momentum after. I could totally be wrong and customer 2 is harder, but that doesn't really match the hockey stick growth model 2 1 replies

Wanna hear your thoughts Something I noticed recently in this sub is that people seem to be OKAY with profiling or looking down on those coming from less fortunate states and living in the city. It really feels like we are mocking people from those states, just as Indians are mocked in the U.S. and Canada. I understand that a lot of people may be causing a nuisance, but since when did looking down on people from those states become acceptable? Let me know if I'm missing something. 1 7 replies
