So here I am, a humble tourist at the Thiruvalluvar statue of wisdom in Kanyakumari, hopping barefoot across sun-scorched tiles because, apparently, wisdom demands sweaty feet and burnt soles.
Respect, they said. tradition, they said. Sure, fine!
But wait, when someone dares suggest adorning Thiruvalluvar with a Kaavi robe, the DMK goes into full meltdown mode, shouting “sangithanam” like it’s the end of secularism as we know it.
Excuse me? Is this not the same sangithanam when we’re all shoe/slipper-less in the name of reverence? Or does political ideology...
