Help me with investing and suggest a few books to read about investing.

I’m a 29-year-old male, single, and earn around 70k a month after taxes. I work in government service, so I don’t expect significant salary hikes like those in the software industry. I want to alter some of my kurtis as i have lost weight,but every tailor shop near medical college seems to charge above 80 for a single alteration. Back in my hometown,it is 30 or 40 per alteration. I recently heard a news about the passing away of a person known to me. She resided in secunderabad and passed away in Jan 2024. However I have no means to verify the news and i don't have any mutuals with the person to confirm the news. I'm from Chennai and here we have a public website that publishes all death list. I tried searching for GHMC records but the website does not work (meeseva works for birth but not for death, redirects me to error page) Ubdmis website...
