Why do most apps seem to require random permissions? I don't know if it's just me, but since Apple started tightening down on permissions (which I think is great), I've noticed soooo many apps ask for a ton of permissions and I have no idea why. For example, I just installed Pocket Casts, a simple podcasts app, asked for accessibility permissions. Why? Tons of other apps ask for "local network access" for no apparent reason. My point here is: when apps randomly ask for permission for things without providing a reason, that trains users to just press "ok"... 3 0 replies

Google Maps shows Bhadrachalam in AP I was casually browsing on Google maps around Bhadrachalam and noticed it is shown in AP, taking Godavari as the default border I was comparing the maps from TG & AP Govts and the actual border seems more like the second image. Curios as to why to this happened. Google generally takes the borders etc from publicly & Govt documents. Could this be due to the border village changes - between Mandals and districts during the partition? 3 0 replies

We know that the tea tribe communities in Assam were brought by the British to work in the tea gardens, and they often refer to themselves as Adibasi. While they are indeed Adivasi in the broader Indian context, I feel it is not accurate to use the term "Adibasi" for the tea tribe communities specifically in the context of Assam. The term "Adibasi" means the first settlers or original inhabitants of a region.... 3 3 replies
