ChatGPT sources showed online directory Yell as a source for branded search

Now ChatGPT have their own search, I thought I’d do a branded search for our own company. I quite liked what came back, accurate and thorough. Lots of succinct info, along with key projects and testimonials. All our core contact info was there. I found it notable that the sources it chose (we’re in the uk) were our own site and Yell. Is it time to revisit optimising (reputable) directory channels like Yell? I mean, I know we should anyway, but in reality we’ve not treated them as a...

Samsung T7 Shield suddenly very slow - other Samsung SSDs working fine?

I one T7 Shield 4TB and several non-Shield T7 and T5 drives - all 2TB. Until recently, they have all been working fine for both read and write on my Macbook Pro M1. I never benchmarked, but I was getting somewhere well in excess of 500MB/s. I used the T7 Shield for the first time in a few weeks today, I am getting decent read speeds still, but my write speeds have dropped very low - a current transfer is going at just 2MB/s. The read speeds are still...

Anyone have experience with IRAP grants (Canada)?

There are some posts already on this topic, but they’re a few years old now. Anyone have recent experience with receiving IRAP funding (Canada)? If so, I have some questions for you. In particular, I am wondering how accountability works (is the money sent upfront or is it contingent on developing/producing the final product? How flexible is IRAP to changes in the product/plan as development proceeds? How for-profit and with clear profit motive/application should it be?) and any other tips. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a small website that I want to generate more traffic to. Say for example my site sells 'chrome toy cars', would buying the domain name chrometoycars.com and have it redirected to my site be a good way to get traffic?

Just upgraded to 15.2 and now my Mac has very slow access to the internet

I just upgraded to macOS 15.2, and since the update my Mac seems to struggle with internet speeds. it went from hundreds of mbps to not even being fast enough to run Speedtest, without telling me I'm offline (I clearly am not). This in not acceptable, since I use this as my main work machine, which means, I can't work without it. Btw I use an 2021 M1 Pro MBP 14"

Never celebrated "Goa Liberation Day" and never will. My Goa deserves independence from India if it is to be truly saved. There is no other way.

What sort of liberation should I celebrate? 1. Our land which belonged to our Goan children now belongs to DLF, Bhutani, Lodha Realtors. 2. The water springs that we played and spent our childhood summers together has been polluted and killed by the housing projects to accommodate people that do not even speak our language or know what our country Goa is about. 3. The hills where we spent so many evenings on, just staring at the setting sun, with cool breeze blowing on our tired faces after a...

Help! Passing my database class with a MacBook (professor only speaks Windows, and he’s kinda a dick)

Hey folks, So, I’m taking this database class that I didn’t think would be a big deal, but now it’s turning into a nightmare. The professor provided some guides for the project, but there’s one *small* problem: they’re entirely written for Windows users. Meanwhile, I’m over here with a MacBook, slowly losing my mind. **What’s the project?** The task is to build a **MySQL database** for a sports organization, with all sorts of tables for athletes, clubs, competitions, and performance stats. I’ve gotta: 1. Create tables with fancy fields like name, age, scores,...

Where can I find good technical candidates to hire?

I have a bootstrapped startup with very limited budget. I am pre revenue and trying to wrap up my MVP. As most of you already know it is very challenging to do everything on your own. I hired a few people in the past and at it’s peak we were 5 people. But now it’s only me. We are a fully remote company and working on a challenging product. I had to let go of my first dev as he wasn’t producing any output after 1+ month. I also...
