Neither CBSE nor ICSE are under state govt. you could ask why DMK has not made Tamil mandatory in the state board schools. They have done that in govt schools. For private schools under state board - they are mandated to provide Tamil as an option. Parents are provided with the choice and predominant Tamil parents have chosen that. It clearly shows that Tamil does not need to be force fed like Hindi. It is both a language, a culture and an identity at the same time. People believe in it and have chosen to grow it. That sort of voluntary embracing of the language is the reason why Tamil has thrived for all these years. -

Tamilnadu and Hindi
If we learnt hindi, would north Indians learn Tamil?
We learn Tamil, because it is our mother tongue. We learn English, because it is necessary for academics and work. But what's the purpose of Hindi for a Tamil common person who has got nothing to do with Hindi?
If we need Hindi, we will for sure learn. But why is it being shoved down our throats for the nth time? -
Is the Panineer Chamba tree common in Kerala? Do its fallen flowers create such a stunning pink carpet every spring? I've only seen it in photos and never in person.
very commom aanu. I was remember being in courtyard with four chamba. Ground was pink!
btw you can also eat pink things. -
Tamilnadu and Hindi
I don't understand why any south indian language in syllabus is not very common in Northern India as part of the syllabus (correct me if I'm wrong). Many North Indians are migrating to South for job and it'll be really useful for them! I personally took Hindi as a third language in my school because I wanted to but most of my friends did not. Imagine a group of friends wanting to be in the same class when you're in 8th grade, who wouldn't want to join a class with all your buddies from other sections! Coming to the point - they didn't. They would if they were in North India and that is their personal choice.
At the same time, I did not find any north indians in my batch choosing Tamil as their third language even though they are settled here! Again personal choice.
Now why are people EXPECTED to learn Hindi when they don't want to and do not have the need! I see people comparing it to learning English, tbh its not the same and yky.
I think learning another language is good but the thing is not everyone thinks like me. The government needs to understand that, majority private schools already have this option and people choose a language of their wish because they can hire teachers for other languages other than Hindi. I really don't think that would be the case for a government school as it will be hard and expensive to find one. Thereby hiring a hindi teacher would be the choice and all the student will be forced to learn it. -
Please stand for this city, don't let it turn into a shithole like Delhi.
