Damn. As soon as president Musk start telling people he can't hire Americans the right starts making excuses as to why immigrants taking our jobs is a good thing. The right wing's long held beliefs and convictions waver more than their daughter's morals.

The central government and most state governments are in their pockets, the fuck do they want to start a "national campaign" for? Bastards looking for an excuse to commit more violence, more likely.

Ideas are never new, it's execution that matters. The more challenging/high energy things you've done before, the better.

This seems like largely a robotics problem but in general i would say:
- First identify a strong customer need that doesn't break the laws of physics & has potential to be economically feasible at scale. (sorry, no time machines)
- validate the need by testing selling / getting lots of real purchases & deploying your MVP (iterate here until death of company or success)
- start building out scalable design, manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, installation, etc (iterate here until death or success) while continuing to sell to large customers / get preorders
- deliver / deal with live product maintenance logistics

Should take roughly 10-25 years. Depending on relevance of experience from previous products built + connections.

People on the right think the NYTimes is so liberal, but a couple of days ago they did a story on the need for more tech visas because of "a massive shortage" of "specialists."

The comments were cut off after just a couple of hundred as programmers raged at how many have been laid off, how many had to train their replacements to get their packages, how many of the new workers were sub par with low skills, and how they were brought in to suppress wages. While some few may be "specialists", the majority of visas are to lower costs.

I came from an immigrant family. Every wave comes in and suppresses wages - fact of life. What may be new is now it hit high wage white collar jobs.

If we had a robust social service net, people would not be so enraged or terrified. But losing so many tech jobs at once has been devastating. Even if some of those jobs would have gone to ai in the future, this is a harbinger. We will need basic income or we will be banging at the gates of robo guarded walls.

It's infuriating that folks voted for the very oligarchs whose only interest is profit. These oligarchs will be DOGEing whatever social services are left.

Edit: also, folks may be unaware but corps also like visa workers because they will stay in line out of fear of being sent back if their visas are not renewed.
