Do I need free space on my Mac to copy to iCloud?
I found an excellent answer from another question, which I quote here, but the gist is: You need the local storage to cache a copy of the files that sync using icloud. Then they will be available to all devices.
"[Pro\_Ana\_Online](/user/Pro_Ana_Online/)•[1y ago](/r/iCloud/comments/15j1vq8/comment/jw9vg38/)
iCloud is a central repository where the various devices you have can centralize and pool all their data. All of your devices can tap into it over the Internet to access the data when you actually need it. Your devices simply become a window into iCloud. For some types of contacts you can view and manage the content direct via a web browser (such as on a friend's computer) by going to the [iCloud.com](https://iCloud.com) website (photos, contacts, notes, files). For other types of content you can only access through the Apple device (iCloud Keychain, Messages, app data, iPhone/iPad iCloud backups, etc.). For anything synced to iCloud your devices only keep a temporary cached copy. For iCloud Photos the cached copy can be "optimized" (low res) to save space on your device while the full-size real copy lives on iCloud. Optimized photos cached to your device are only about 50% the size of the real copy on iCloud. Your device storage is still a limiting factor. With a 256GB device you couldn't have a 1TB photo library because there wouldn't be enough space to reliably and fully sync even an optimized cache copy on your device because a 1TB photo library would still need about half that for local cached copies on your device itself.
If you officially delete something on your device like an iPhone (like a contact or a photo) this deletion-action gets sent up to iCloud and the real master copy is deleted and therefore will be removed from all other devices as well. If you divorce one of your devices from using iCloud for a particular service (such as Photos or Contacts) as part of that process before it severs the connection it'll ask you if you want to make a real copy for your device to download it from iCloud first or just to remove it all from your device. It'll still live on iCloud either way.
If you have 2 or more devices you want to all share a common pool of data so you can seamlessly have access to everything, then iCloud is great. Your data is safe if any or all of your devices are lost or stolen. If you accidentally delete something then you are not safe as it would be deleted everywhere. In this case it's not a backup, but a sync service.
If you have 1 device then you shouldn't sync to iCloud for photos, contacts, notes, etc., you should have just a large device with lots of built-in storage and use iCloud for an iCloud backup of your entire device data, then it's actually a "backup".
Google or Dropbox would not be an especially useful alternative in the above sense. Using iTunes on a Mac or PC would be a useful alternative since you can can make self-contained backups of your device content. You could also import your data to your Microsoft or Mac photos library. Or better yet, you could do both. This would be a good way to make an archive of your photos leaving you free to delete photos from iCloud (and by extension, your device) to free up space for more photos.**"** -
Is Zoho overrated compared to other product/service-based companies? What's your take?what are some other good product-based companies where engineers (in any field) can explore meaningful work and career growth
No comparison between a product based company and service based company, even if the pbc pays less. PBCs are miles ahead in terms of shaping out our career trajectory.
Keeping that in mind, I always thought Zoho is hiring best minds possible and kinda low balling freshers with less compensation. They have a lot of rounds which does include a lot of DSA and one low level design round. Even FAANG doesn’t ask LLD for freshers.
If someone can crack Zoho during placements, they can likely crack a FAANG interview as well with a bit more effort, especially in terms of time management, since FAANG interviews are typically strict 45-minute sessions.
I feel Zoho is highly overrated with the fact that they provide free food 3 times a day. That’s what made people from TN go crazy about Zoho. That’s not a big deal imho. But I’ll agree on the job security part.
It’s always good, not to idolise any org that we work or wish to work for. At the end of the day, it’s just another org that pays their employees with the budget they’ve got.
If you really want to choose a company that helps on your career growth, go for unicorn startups, where they are still in innovation phase and adding micro services to their architecture. Ex: Swiggy, Zomato, MotorQ etc.
You’ll get a chance to be a part of actual design discussions from the start of your career. But then WLB will be worse. If you choose a big established product based MNCs, you can’t learn much in beginning, but as you get experienced you’ll reach a point where you have to take responsibility of designing and choosing tech stacks (Only when you become a software architect, which takes atleast 6-8 years or even more). WLB will mostly be good in big MNCs.
There are always trade offs between choosing a startup and an MNC. -

Trump mocked for hitting the golf course — just a week after being sworn in again
Oh no, I am sure he is devastated. I am not about to get into all the outrage porn that we enjoyed during his first term. This time things are worse. He can do anything he wants and nobody will do anything about it. This country fucked itself hard.
If he says something mean to someone, doesnt put his hand on the bible, flubs some words, players golf every day for the next 4 years, or shits his pants mid-speech (which would actually be amazing), it wont change anything for him or his party of sycophants. -
Please help me make sense, if the current price of a stock is $100 and someone purchased calls with strike price of $70 in 6 months. How is that possible?
They buy itm to reduce theta decay on the option as they are buying the call at 70 and the stock price is 100 they are expecting the stock to be greater than 100+ the premium they paid for the option -
