Tamil Nadu and Telangana gov gave 25 lakh each to their state players who were part of the Olympiad team. Maharashtra gov gave 1 Crore each to Vidit and Divya while no prize money has been announced by UP gov (Vantika Agrawal) and Delhi gov. for their state players.
Out of 85 total Indian GMs, less than 10 are from northern states so the state governments in the north need to be more encouraging of the talents from their states for things to change.

I'm my opinion, Bangalore has 4 classes of people

- it guys in faang product companies, startups, gcc : they are the ones with the mind boggling salaries
- it witch : mainly service companies, earn extremely well by Indian standards but nowhere near the earlier category
- business, traders, real estate : who have set up business to suck the money out of the it
- rest : ranging from middle class to lower middle class, I don't think there are really any poor in Bangalore

I've been at IITB for 3 years. Let me explain why such events are mismanaged. Most of the things are handled by students who, as you know, are just 20 years old. They overestimated their capabilities and don't want to be held responsible. The event managers get selected from popular vote and influence. They work overnight and produce mediocre results at best. They dont have any concern or respect for the participants/judges or the audience.

I'm willing to bet that half the IITians have undiagnosed ADHD. They delay the work until it needs to be done, and then they have to work off the adrenaline under pressure. In the end, they somehow enjoy the process, claiming that they had an amazing experience and managed to successfully do it within the last minute, but in fact, it's nothing but a poor execution.

This theme isn't just for events. Even academic projects/presentations have the same look. But in the end, it's all overhyped and video edited to make it look the best event so far. As long as they can keep portraying that its the biggest event, they can have something to write on their resume. And finally all this mismanaged is forgotten after a celebration where convince themselves that they did a good job. No improvement, and same shit repeats every year. Same thing with Mood Indigo.

This is not to say that all IITians are like this. Those with good discipline tend to focus on academics and stay away from stuff like this.
