Got slapped right across the face in a class of 40 students because I couldn't read or write Malayalam. This was in the gulf too. Mind you I was a perfect A student in all subjects and somewhere top 5 maybe.

To this day i remember the slap. Hated the language after that, but pretty much learnt it somehow. Physical punishment should never be used for kids under 15 cuz if they don't understand something, its because you failed as a teacher!
