You need to narrow down the cause. For most of India's issues there are a handful of causes responsible namely low life quality, lack of quality education, lack of healthcare, society pressure do something and become something. Lack of Quality Education is the root cause for most issues.
In this case people follow starts because they see their own dreams coming true through them, whatever they wanted to achieve and wanted to become. And their dream failed due to lack of opportunities like unemployment or low education or both.
