It's complicated, and I'll paint two scenarios:

1. **AGI is reachable within 5 years** (by whatever definition you have for that).
There's no bubble. Some company (companies?) will make it out big. Society will change a lot. But it wasn't a bubble, humanity fundamentally changes, and rapidly.

2. **AGI is unreachable within 5 years** (and AI doesn't get significantly smarter, doesn't replace typical office job)
There is a giant bubble. Because the investments are so big (bigger than crypto!) and so diverse (a *lot* of real buy-in by dominant players, not just startups and VCs), heads will roll. Stock market will drop. However, it's gonna be a slow death, I think? But who knows.

I think whatever answer doesn't distinguish between those two possible scenarios is simplifying things too much.

And even if you have a very strong opinion on whether it's scenario 1 or scenario 2, you should still be able to consider the other side of this "what if", even if you put the chances for it as low as 5%. The difference in how things will play out is just so vast.
