Im only gonna answer the immigration issue..

Immigration issue is much bigger than what the media portrays. 50x bigger. Tripura has fallen to immigrants. Natives are minority there. Assam is gonna fall in the next census. Even after repeated requesting and protesting government never listened. One government wants to bring Muslim immigrats other government wants to bring Hindu immigrants. Im myself a Hindu but if government has to bring Hindu immigrants atleast relocate them to Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra. They have huge population there which can easily resist demographic and cultural change. Here people are on the verge of becoming minority, we don't have huge population to back us.

Edited part: religion is a big thing in NE but not the top most priority. Top most priority in NE is ethnic and cultural preservation. Ethnicity is what people care about most..we don't like to be diluted. You can call us xenophobic but no two people are alike. Some people are okay with immigration some are not. That's the reality
