Part of me envies the machine that is the GOP. They don't care how horrible their guy is, they're all in on him. Their media sphere is all in on their plans. All of the heads of major social media platforms are all in after pretending in 2016 and 2020 to be impartial; they are fully mask off now. The steady appointment of conservative judges at the highest levels ensures a lot of their agenda will happen. They are concerted in their efforts to achieve their goals, and they don't care how that makes them look to the opposition. That focus, blatant corruption, and lack of shame enables them to demolish the Dems.

The Obama coalition could have (and should have) continued and been expanded upon if the DNC hadn't done all it could to demonize Bernie Sanders. Bernie could have been the answer to Trump in 2016, he actually excited progressives in a way Hillary never could, and if they had taken more full measures like the GOP does, we might be in a different timeline now, celebrating the end of two successful terms of a Sanders administration, and Trump just an ugly, laughable memory of a long shot from 10 years ago now. I still believe if Sanders had been given a legitimate shot and had the full might of the DNC and progressive sphere behind him, he would have ate Trump alive in debates and soared on the hype to victory. A pleasant fiction that just lives in my head and dreams.

I imagine a lot of dictators and autocrats in a lot of countries are going to be asking the US for names of “dissidents” that worked with USAID via NGOs, human rights groups, etc. 

Whether the US hands over the names or not is almost irrelevant now. If I was a pro-democracy activist in a foreign country, I’d definitely think twice before getting in bed with the US. It’s an inherently untrustworthy regime, and even if the Democrats take power back, who knows what will happen down the road. 

National security experts and scholars have been warning for weeks now, that trump and musk’s actions will weaken national security. And this is one of the many ways. That information and knowledge-building used to flow both ways.
